While on the other side, Fathers day will be celebrated on 8th November which is falling on the second Sunday of November in countries like Norway, Sweden and Finland. The celebration of Father’s Day was inspired by the success of Mother’s Day (which was observed nationally for the first time in 1914). Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, was listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in church in 1909 and decided that fathers deserved a similar day of recognition. The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910. Father’s Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, and typically involves gift-giving to fathers and family-oriented activities.
It’s that time of the year when moms and kids connive. They hold secret meetings to talk of what to do, buy or make to celebrate fatherhood. It’s the time when retail stores can expect a spike in their sales of male-oriented tools, gadgets and whathaveyous. The father’s day is a day of commemoration and celebration of love we hold in our hearts for our dear father – the special man in our life.
